• 1923 Peace Dollar — NGC MS63
Created by Anthony de Francisci, the Peace Dollar commemorates the end of World War I. Its modern, radiant Liberty and perched eagle symbolize America’s hope for lasting peace.

⭐ The Transition: Morgan to Peace Dollar Collars
The U.S. Mint produced Morgan Dollars from 1878–1904, then briefly again in 1921. That same year, Congress authorized a new design to celebrate peace after WWI. A national competition selected de Francisci’s Peace design, and the Mint transitioned from the Morgan’s high‑relief, industrial‑era collar to a sleeker, more modern collar suited for the Peace Dollar’s artistic style.

This shift marked a symbolic move from America’s Gilded Age identity toward a forward‑looking, post‑war optimism. Both coins share the same silver specifications, but the Peace Dollar’s collar and relief were engineered for smoother striking and a more contemporary aesthetic.
